My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer/Basset Hound
Age: 2 years
Weight: 51 pounds
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Curious
Good with kids: Best guess - yes
Energy Level: High-Medium

Meet Woodrow. He is a cutie short legged guy. He likes to get attention from people by rubbing up against your leg. He also likes to nuzzle you to get a head scratch. He has a lot of energy and will need someone who likes to play, take walks or even jog. He would do well with a family with children. He yelps a little if you pull his ears but not his tail. He is food motivated and should be able to learn his basic commands and some tricks easily. He is a smart dog who needs patience and love. Can you give it to Woodrow? He will give you unconditional love right back. He deserves a forever home.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
