It’s sad when you see a wonderful dog like Smokey homeless due to his wonderful owner dying. We could not stand for this boy to be turned in to a shelter because no one was willing to take him in from his owner’s family. It was either CCR take him or he end up in a kill shelter. When you meet Smokey you hardly know that he is there. He is quiet, calm and only 6 years young. While his face shows early graying, you still are caught up in his gorgeous black rimmed eyes that draw you in to his soul. He is a family companion of the best kind. He gets along with other dogs and will play but also enjoys a nice soft bed. He walks great on a leash and rides beautifully in the car. We think his owner talked to him a lot. He seems to enjoy a good conversation about the day and what’s going on around him. You ask what makes Smokey any different than all the other Beagles that need homes? Well, he can sit straight up on his square bottom when he wants a treat. It’s a real talent, an amazing thing to see. He is house trained and perfectly fine loose inside all day at the house. No chewing or bad habits to get him in trouble. His former owner did a great job with raising a well grounded and lovely dog. Now we just need to find him one more great home. ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.
