My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pending adoption as of 2-13-14; unavailable.

Aspen is a 1 year old Yorkshire Terrier female. She weighs about 7 lbs but is a bit thin. She has a full length tail as it wasn't docked when she was a very young puppy. Aspen and Ivy are littermates. Their elderly owner passed away and the family was unable to keep the dogs. The owner was ill for the majority of their time with her. They need an experienced owner who is willing to take the time to train them. They are both about 90 to 95% potty trained & go outdoors. We recommend they attend a professional 6-7 week basic obedience course where they will become good K9 citizens. We have an excellent professional trainer/animal behaviorist we use and recommend here in Orange County who gives a discount for adopted rescue dogs. Both dogs get along great with other small dogs and enjoy their foster friends. They are sweet, affectionate, and have an excellent temperament. They are a little shy when meeting new people.

The dogs have had a vet exam, been dewormed, spayed, microchipped, naturally treated for fleas, and had a dental done by our vet while they were under anesthesia for the spay surgery. Remaining puppy teeth were removed and the rest of them were cleaned. They will be professionally groomed and then we'll post new photos. Their hair was matted, so we had to cut a lot of it off before they were bathed. It will grow back in about 2 months time.

We will consider a foster home arrangement with the possibility of adoption for the right home. Because of their age and situation, they need a foster/permanent home where someone is there most of the time. They would do best in a home with at least 1 other small, young dog to play with (close to their age and size). No children under 12 years old in their foster/permanent home. If you're interested in fostering or adopting Aspen, email us at 1yorkiesrescue@gmail.com.

Thank you for choosing to adopt a homeless dog!
