My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pending adoption as of 2-25-14; unavailable. Original bio below:

Ivy is a 1 year old Yorkshire Terrier female. She weighs about 7 lbs but is a bit thin. She has a full length tail as it wasn't docked when she was a very young puppy. Her elderly owner passed away and the family was unable to keep her. The owner was ill for the majority of Ivy's time with her. She needs an experienced owner who is willing to take the time to train her. She's potty trained to go outdoors. We recommend she attend a professional 6-7 week basic obedience course. We have an excellent professional trainer/animal behaviorist we use and recommend here in Orange County who gives a discount for adopted rescue dogs. Ivy gets along great with other small dogs and enjoys her foster friends. She's affectionate, happy, playful, sweet, and has an excellent temperament. She's a little shy when first meeting new people.

Ivy has had a vet exam, been dewormed, spayed, microchipped, naturally treated for fleas/parasites, and had a dental done by our vet while she was under anesthesia for the spay surgery. Her retained puppy teeth were removed and the rest of them were cleaned. She'll be professionally groomed and then we'll post new photos. Her hair was matted when she came to us and we had to cut the mats out before her bath. It will grow back in about 2 months time.

We will consider a "foster to adoption" arrangement for the right home. Because of her age and situation, Ivy needs a foster/permanent home where someone is there most of the time or someone who works only part-time. No children under 9-10 years of age in the foster/permanent home. Ivy needs a home with at least 1 other small, young dog to play with (close to her age and size). She lived with 2 other dogs in her original home.

Thank you for choosing to adopt a homeless dog!
