My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hachi is a beagle/basset mix who finds himself looking for a new home before his first birthday. This wonderful boy was born with a deformity in his wrist joint of his front leg. Though he walks with a limp and holds that leg at a bent angle, he is no way disabled. Hachi has the heavier frame of a basset, but his adorable face is all beagle! Hachi currently weighs 34 pounds, but with activity and diet should be down to an ideal 30 pounds soon. He stands 14 inches tall and the lower weight will be best to minimize stress on his leg.

Hachi loves to play. Young or old, male or female, it doesn’t matter to him. If they are up for a game, he is ready to go. He will wrestle, play chase or best of all dive into a game of tug of war with enthusiasm! Unfortunately, the leg does not stop him from digging holes in pursuit of moles! He is still a puppy and is learning that some things are not ok! He is housebroken with the use of a dog door. He has had only a rare accident since his first couple days of training. He rarely gets into anything that is not for him to play with. He sleeps through the night on a dog bed or your bed if allowed. Hachi does have a loud bay that he uses when a stranger is near his home. He is vocal at meal times and when you leave and return home! Basically, Hachi would be too noisy for apartment living!

Hachi is a loving, sweet boy. He enjoys cuddling next to you and is thriving from the attention he gets in his foster home. Hachi needs a family with a canine buddy to hang out with during the day. He will make a wonderful addition to your family. If you have room in your heart and home for his great guy, please apply today to come and meet Hachi!
