Deb's Story...
Deb is a beautiful shiba inu/labrador mix ...she's a little shy at first but once she comes out of her shell she is a little mush! She loves the outdoors and running around the yard is her favorite passtime, along with snuggling with her foster mom in bed. This little girl and her 4 siblings, Dante, Daphne, Delilah and Diane all came from a high kill shelter in North Carolina, the shelter asked us to pull them or else they would have been euthanized the following day.

All 5 of these puppies are absolutely beautiful and with time, love and patience will be the most amazing pets ever! If you are interested in adopting any of these beautiful babies, please contact us at sweetestdogrescue@gmail.com.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Deb, a Shelter Island Shiba Inu/Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shiba Inu/Labrador Retriever for sale in Shelter Island, or seeking a Shiba Inu/Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Shelter Island.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Shelter Island already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Shelter Island breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shiba Inu/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Shiba Inu/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Shelter Island paves the way for another one to be saved.
