Lady's Story...
Look at us and our beautiful lush ebony fur! Lady (right), the Mama Cat, is a petite, spunky, funny, gentle and sweet black female cat with medium long hair. She was born in 2012 and lived in a colony (near the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland) of about forty black and white cats, many of whom are as pretty and sweet as her. Dusk (left) is her “baby”. He is a funny, quirky male born in the summer of 2012. They are up for adoption as a pair.

Lady and Dusk are very sweet together. They are part of a larger household of cats and have “passive” personalities which means they will likely get along with your cat, if you have one. They still need a bit more socializing with people. Both are shy with other people but not their foster mother. Dusk is more elusive but will follow you around for playtime and Whiskas Treats. Lady will sleep with you.

Dusk is not quite there. Both will blossom fully when you take them home with you and spend time alone with them. Neither has yet had the opportunity to meet a dog but are sure to like it once they get used to it. They both love to sit on the screened porch or in front of the window to enjoy the “outdoors.” They both love to play. They would love the opportunity to come home, “spread their wings” and become your forever friend.

Lady and Dusk are spayed/neutered, have had FVRCP and rabies shots, and tested negative for FIV/FeLV.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Lady, a Merrifield Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Merrifield, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Merrifield.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Merrifield already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
