Scarlett's Story...
Shepherd lovers meet your newest best friend. This stunning black beauty is Scarlett, a 40-50 pound female Shepherd mix. Scarlett was found as a stray when a young pup, and spent many months at a kill shelter in South Carolina before one of our fosters fell in love with her and begged us to take her into rescue. We are SO glad we did- Scarlett is smart, loving, sweet, and alert. She is housebroken, and walks fairly well on leash. She LOVES other dogs and enjoys lots of play. She can seemingly entertain herself for hours with squeaky toys, and like to chew on bones and hooves. Scarlett would make an incredible companion to someone who wants a dog that adores them and wants a close companion. She bonds very closely and quickly to her caregivers. We are looking for a home that has another playful dog to keep her preoccupied, and also a home where her people can provide lots of exercise. Scarlett can be aloof with strangers, and is marginally good with cats. If you are interested in Scarlett, please email Adoptions@GimmeShelterAnimalRescue.org

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Scarlett, a Sagaponack German Shepherd Dog/Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Border Collie for sale in Sagaponack, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Border Collie dog from a breeder in Sagaponack.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sagaponack already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sagaponack breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Border Collie breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sagaponack paves the way for another one to be saved.
