My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Sophie and I was just 2 months old when I found myself sitting in the middle of a busy intersection, alone and confused. A nice lady, from California, was visiting her family here in MS when she scooped me up and brought me to safety. The people at the rescue posted my picture on Facebook trying to locate my family. After 32,176 people saw my post and after 864 people shared my story, still nothing. I waited patiently as my human friends, looked daily for signs in the area of where I was found; hoping to see something about me. No phone calls about me to the shelter or rescue. As I waited in my foster home, I asked one of the other dogs what that metal tag was that hung from his collar. He told me that it’s his identification. I didn’t understand what that meant. He said that if he ever got lost and someone found him, they could read the tag and locate his family. Wow, I thought to myself, how brilliant is that? Then all of a sudden, it hit me and I got real quiet. The other dog asked me why I was so sad. I told him that, if only I had one of those metal tags on my collar two months ago, then maybe, just maybe my family could have been located. He reassured me that it wasn’t my fault and that I will have one of my very own. I am four months old now and a happy girl. My foster mom and dad love me very much and always tell me what a good girl I am. I am going to doggy school and love learning new things. My teacher Ms. Karen; said that she is amazed at how friendly, smart and well -mannered I am and to be as young as I am. Ms. Lori one of the volunteers has been taking me to visit the patients at a rehabilitation center in Ocean Springs, MS to help cheer them up. I was told that they look forward to seeing me and that I am their favorite. My foster mom and Ms. Lori told me that I have a wonderful personality and the smarts to be whatever I want to be in life. So, when I grow up, my dream is to be a therapy dog and visit humans in hospitals and such. I really like people and I am always eager to learn new things. I want to be able to help my fellow humans, just like they have helped me when I was lost and alone. My ideal human companion would be one that is sociable, friendly and is active in the community. My goal is to master many levels of training. I would like someone, who is motivated, committed and determined to work together as partners to make a difference.
