My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We're so glad that Gates was able to stay safe as he wandered through the streets Oklahoma as a stray...finally getting picked up by the Stillwater Shelter. His safety became questionable when he was picked up and slated for euthanization in an extremely overcrowded shelter system. No way that Farfel's could let that happen to this adorable Schnauzer/Terrier with the great temperament! Arrangements were quickly made...and Gates left the shelter just in the nick of time. This truly adorable 9-month old, 20 lb puppy (anticipated to be about 22 lbs when full grown) left all the pain and misery of his previous life behind as he acclimated to the security of a home, great nutrition and lots of love & belly rubs! We found...to our delight...that Gates is great with kids (12+ please as his exuberance is that of a puppy) and other dogs. He also enjoys his time with adults...especially if it's about snuggling or hiking in the sunshine with his favorite people. He is good on a leash outside but needs help with confidence when walking into a building or a home. Since Gates had been in a scary situation, he needs a bit of assurance that he's loved in a forever sort of way. His basic nature, however, is pure joy! He's so happy yet will have a naturally calm demeanor as he matures into adulthood. We notice that Gates gains confidence and is even more affectionate every day that he interacts with well-meaning and kind humans. We envision Gates in a home with a canine sibling and guardians that choose to spend lots of time having fun with their dogs. Gates would be ecstatic to spend this quality time and would definitely form a fast & forever bond. He wants to please like none other...it almost seems like he's gathered the wisdom that guides him toward great behavior. Obedience group classes would accentuate this naturally great personality and cement that strong bonding with his family. There is no stress in taking Gates to social situations...as a puppy he will continue this development as he gets more exposure to the world. A loving and active family (he loves to hike) that has the time and desire to form a close relationship with a pup that truly deserves it is our goal for our exceptional Gates. Gates is a non-shedding guy but isn't suggested for those with severe allergy concerns. He will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and matt-free. Gates will be arriving on transport in Denver in early March. Applications are currently being accepted for this wonderful and very loving family companion.
