My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our adorable little Munchkin is a peppy, alert little guy, who has taken his foster family by storm! He came to us from a bustling high kill animal control facility, where his owners left him without much explanation. Owner surrendered dogs have just two days to impress shelter staff and volunteers to network on their behalf. All too often, their time runs out and options evaporate before the frightened creatures can get their bearings.

Munchkin managed to make several friends, and he totally wowed his behavior evaluators. He received the best possible scores, and by the time he was brought to our attention, Munchkin had loads of Facebook fans. We are delighted to have him with us.

Munchkin has blended into his new foster home like he's been here forever. He appears to be a spirited mix of American Eskimo Dog, and another Spitz breed, perhaps Shiba Inu. Munchkin has a muscular, compact frame, and weighs only 24 pounds. He has the proud posture and presence of a much larger dog. Munchkin's biscuit colored coat is short and flat, and he needs minimal grooming.

Munchkin would be a good choice for an active single or couple, whose lifestyle will provide him with the action and attention that he needs to be happy. Munchkin is generally good natured and friendly, although he can be suspicious of some strangers. He warms quickly to human touch when properly introduced.

Munchkin could easily join an multi-dog home, with medium to high energy dogs. He is an agreeable playmate for other active dogs, and would enjoy the affections of older, dog savvy kids. We have not tested him with cats, but he would likely chase them.

Munchkin has not had much obedience training beyond the basics that we have begun in foster care. He is very eager to please, so his training program should be fun. Adopters should be willing to continue his training to help him reach his full potential.

Munchkin is in excellent health and is neutered. He is vaccinated for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. If you are interested in Munchkin please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com for an adoption application or call Denise at 720-903-0636 for more info.

Eskies Online is a 501(c)(3) Multibreed rescue group that serves unwanted American Eskimos and other dogs in need. Our group of volunteer foster homes spans the North East, and our adoption territory extends from Maine to eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and parts of northern Maryland.
