My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Thaicoon aka Thaico: 8 yr old male lilac point Wedgie Siamese

Yes it is true--he came from a shelter. Can you imagine finding him in a shelter? The most amazing cats can be found in shelters. & He certainly is an amazing cat. His paperwork says he was found stray brought in by Good Samaritan. Was he left behind when someone moved. ? He is not an escape artist sort of cat. He was someone's indoor pet and showed no signs of having been outside.

It is possible his owner felt he or she could not afford a dental for him. He was in dire need of a dental including a number of extractions. However, he was lucky he was brought to such a good shelter. Most shelters would have put down any cat of his middle years with a health problem. We are so lucky to have gotten him.

I mean: Look at him -- he is magnificent! He is just what everyone is looking for in the Siamese breed. He has the show ring look of the Extreme Siamese what we call "Wedgie Siamese" from the wedge shape of his head. He has a long body, a long tail, long legs and a long head. Siamese cats are described by their colorpoints. "Points" are the head, feet, and tail. His point color is a pinkish to taupe gray which is called lilac. Lilac goes beautifully with his body color which is a beautiful soft cream. Thaico's eyes, of course, are the very intense blue so wanted in the breed.

Thaico was very stressed at the shelter and would not eat. He sort of expects life to go as he wishes and number one on his list is lots of human company and attention. Shelters can't provide this. Like most Siamese, he is extremely affectionate and is looking for a loving bond with humans. If there is a lap available, he will take up residence. He loves (LOVES) attention and affection. He may give you a little rub, nudge, lick, or lovebite to remind you your hand has stopped stroking him and he is still there. He is not talkative unless he is looking for you or breakfast is late. When he does vocalize, he has that wonderful Siamese voice that is a requirement of all Siamese owners who truly love the breed.

His first foster mom got him from the shelter and took him for a vet exam. His blood panel and urinanalysis were perfect. A complete dental procedure was done for him. As he recovered, he was transferred to me in Santa Cruz. He arrived after a 4 hour ride disgruntled and annoyed and for the first two days he grumbled to himself. It was like listening to just barely audible thunder on the horizon-- very quiet, very low, annoyed. It was so funny. "Is that Thaico I hear?" someone would say. And there he was mumble, mumble, mumble, grrr talking to himself and letting the world know all was not prerfect in his world. He has so much personality.

Now almost two weeks later, he has totally settled in and he is happy with all. He is a fantastic cat. He just wants to be with you. He wants to follow you around and watch all the interesting, odd things you do. Sure he will help you with your chores. He rubs against you lovingly as he walks by. Just a stroke to say hello. He is a great roommate.

I think he would be happy as an only cat especially if his human was around a lot. In a big space with more than one human, he would probably be fine with gentle non alpha good-natured older cats. I don't know about a quiet older dog. A kitten might be annoying or a bouncy, barking dog. He is not appropriate for a noisy, busy home with children. He is an elegant boy and needs a quiet, elegant home. In addition to his wonderful companionship, he will look gorgeous. Every movement could be a photograph as you can see from the pictures below. (He will make you think you are a great photographer!)

Someone will be so super lucky to have his company.

He eats wet and dry food and is litterbox perfect.

His foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz..
