Penny's Story...
Penny is an adorable young beagle! We know her history is not great in that she was brought into a Kentucky shelter in shock, dehydrated, with fluid in her lungs, and a strange mass (herniation of the omentum) coming out of the left side of her body. The mass was removed, and Penny is doing well in foster care. She loves to play with her foster brother, Dexter (listed above), but is a bit more hesitant and shy with people. She is making progress every day, and will just need a patient adopter to go slow with her. A less active home without young children would be best for her. She is cratetrained, and still learning not to puppy nip when she is excited to see you! She is a fabulous little beagle who would do best in a home with another young, confident beagle to pal around with!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Penny, a Portland Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier for sale in Portland, or seeking a Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier dog from a breeder in Portland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Portland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Portland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier breeders who help with Beagle/Jack Russell Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Portland paves the way for another one to be saved.
