My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poppy is a 2 year old female who was found lost in SE Texas. She was so shy and timid when found that her finder’s household cats terrorized her! HBHR agreed to take care of her and find her a new home. As she has gotten healthy again over the last two months, this little girl has slowly come out of her shell, but her sweet nature remains unchanged! Poppy has a beautiful faded tri-colored coat with bright red hair instead of the more traditional brown.

At 13+ inches, Poppy is a little pudgy at 24 pounds. Now that she is feeling good again, she is joining in of games of chase, so should get her trim figure back. She gets along with all her foster siblings but is not super playful. She will play tug of war with one of the beagles, but usually is happy to sit back and watch the show! Her favorite thing is to find a hoof lost in the yard and stretch out in the sun to chew on it. Poppy is no longer scared of small furry animals…she loves to join the pack when chasing a squirrel or rabbit in the yard! She has the cutest, softest bay of any beagle you have ever heard. You will laugh when you hear her Arooo!

Poppy will run to you with joy on her face when her name is called, but is still on the shy side when it is time for a cuddle. Poppy will hop up when invited and cuddle up if you pat your chest. She still acts like she can’t believe that all you want to give her is some loving. It will take more than two months for this beautiful red head to trust that the world is a good place. A little more polishing will bring a bright sparkle to this diamond in the rough! Apply today to make her a part of your family
