My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

SUGAR, aka Kavna, is a 3 year old yellow female who weighs 79 pounds. Kavna is an amazing dog and she is a bundle of energy. She loves playing with tennis balls and frisbees or just sitting outside, watching the world. She needs a yard to run If she doesn't get playtime (walks don't seem to be enough,) she can be pretty needy. She can clear a 4 ft fence without a problem but she never has. When she is inside Kavna loves sitting in a window but she also curls up on the couch or a chair. She is a great cuddler! She's a 75 lb. lap dog - climbing on laps, lying on top of you or spooning on the sofa. Kav knows basic commands - sit, down, paw, side, wait, come - but she has trouble remembering them if there is distraction. She knows to sit and wait to get what she wants - her leash at walk time, the door to open to the yard or for her bowl to get put down - but she sometimes needs to be reminded. She loves playing with the hose - in fact, once she figured out what it was she dug one up. Kav isn't too fond of car rides but she is always up for adventure when we get where we are going. Kavna has an Easy Walk harness for walks and does fine. She gets is so excited on walks when she meets other dogs I settle her enough to meet the dog she normally doesn't care about the dog and just wants the owner to pet her. Kavna has hypothyroidism. SHe is in a thyroid med twice a day.

Kavna is a dominant female and should either be an only dog or one with a submissive male. Kavna came from a home with a submissive male and did fine. Kavna does not like other dogs around when she needs to be fed separately. I can reach for and take her bowl while she is eating without incident. She is possessive about some toys. She has met my friend's dogs and did fine without toys - lots of rough play and running around. She is approved for kids 10 and up.

Update (3/22): Sugar continues to be a delight. She loves her time playing in the backyard or heading out for a walk or a relaxed pace run. She is just as happy inside lying at her foster's feet under the table or sitting in the sun looking out the window. She enjoys her stuffed shark and squeaky ball inside and either a Frisbee or tennis ball outside. She enjoys sleeping with the foster's older children and has gotten used to their schedule. She has great manners but does get very excited when she meets other dogs, so she needs slow and proper introductions. She would be ideal in a family as the only dog, or would do well living with a submissive male. She is a happy and sweet dog, loved by everyone.

Update (2/26): Sugar is such a wonderful dog. She is active and playful outside, sweet and cuddly when inside. She follows basic commands, likes being around people and has done well with the foster's children. She is going to be a great addition to someone's family.
