Blaze!! What a gorgeous young guy! He is a love. He will follow you, nuzzle you cuddle you. He will rub up against you to get your attention. He likes to play with squeaky toys. He loves balls and will throw them up into the air himself. Here is what our southern rescuer has to say about Blaze: "Blaze. Where to begin. He's a 70 lb. puppy. Having said that, he is one of the most fun-loving, play-loving, ridiculously fun dogs I've ever encountered. His energy just doesn't seem to stop when I'm around. He gets SO excited when I go to his pen. He greets me face to face at the gate. He makes his funny little contented grunt sounds when I pet him. He just can't get enough of me. When I go into his pen, he is right beside me. If I don't pay him enough attention, he forces it out of me. He jumps excitedly on me and he's taller than I am. He wants to make sure I don't forget he's there. If I still don't pay him enough attention, he takes my hand in his huge mouth, and tries to pull me to where he wants to play. Sometimes I feel like a slobbery chew toy when I'm around him. There is not one aggressive bone in his big body." He engages other dogs to play but can intimate with his size. He is good on a leash. Blaze would do best in an active family with older kids (only because he is a BIG puppy). Does Blaze sound like your perfect dog? Fill out an online application.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
