My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The story of Kipling is unfortunately common among dogs all over the US. People have the best of intentions but can't always follow through due to the realities of their life. Kipling, a 3.5 - 4 year old Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix) weighing just about 12 lbs was given up by his caring guardian because Kipling was being terrorized by the relative's Pit Bulls. Since he couldn't be in the fenced yard with them...Kipling spent all his time alone tied to a tree. It was very clear to all concerned that this wasn't an acceptable life for any living being. Animal Control was called time and time again to help Kipling and threatened to remove him from the premises into a high-kill shelter. These were the circumstances that brought Kipling to Farfel's attention...our awesome OK rescuer was on it and released him from his 4-foot prison. Kipling danced away from his rope...free forever! He happily rode away in the car, never looking back but only ahead at a brand new life. Kipling was vetted and brought to a foster home to be reminded of respectful house skills and proper behavior. We were thrilled to find that Kipling is house trained (or just about perfect) and is so loving to all he comes into contact with. He's great in the house and doesn't seem to have the least bit of interest in chewing or destructive behavior. He has shown that he enjoys warm laps and belly rubs are the greatest! He is very curious about his surroundings and greets new people and situations with a healthy curiosity. We envision Kipling with a retired couple or individual who want a full-time fuzzy companion who will be a lap dog extraordinaire. He is a perfect size at 12 lbs to accompany his favorite human on leisurely walks through the mountains and riding shotgun in the car to dog-friendly locations. He also would fit perfectly under the seat on a plane to accompany his family everywhere they might be going. Kipling (like all dogs) would benefit from Obedience I group classes to create greater family bonding and make him the best behaved dog he's capable of being. Kipling is a non-shedding pup (sorry about the awful shelter photos..will update when we receive post-grooming shots) who will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to bring out the cottony softness of his gorgeous coat. Kipling will be arriving on transport in Denver on 3/8. Applications are currently being accepted for this exceptional family companion.
