My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Wiggle butt, happy dance; that is our girl Harper now that she knows what love is!

FOSTER LOCATION:

I am a 9 month old American Pointer/Pit mix and boy has my puppyhood been a rough one, a good one but it’s been a rough go so far. I’m really hoping you can help me make the rest of my life one great big pile of yummy dog bones!

My name is Harper, it used to be a bunch of other things; most of them not very nice; but I’ve learned my new name and I like it when you talk to me. I have been bounced around quite a bit in my short 9 months of life, rescued from an abusive situation, I’ve had Demodex (all cleared up now, thanks for asking), I got adopted from a shelter and then sent back when I chased a cat (sigh, I just wanted to play). Then this nice lady from Fuzzy Pawz came and found me at the shelter and took me home with her so I could stay in a house while they looked for my forever people.

Now living in a foster home is no free ride let me tell you. Man these people make me work so hard; sit, stay, don’t jump, come when I’m called, don’t pull on the leash (I’m even good off leash), don’t potty in the house and go into my crate when they tell me to. It’s been a lot to learn but I’m one smart cookie if I do say so myself and I’ve learned it all. Well I admit I do sometimes have trouble remembering it's not nice to step on you when you're lying down, even if I creep up ever so slowly. But come on I just love to cuddle!

I also used to be very timid and shy with strangers but I have learned that despite what I have been through people are good things! They take me on walks, they play with me, and they feed me good food, and praise me when I do good things. What’s extra nice about the people I know now is that they don’t scream or hit me when I don’t do something nice; instead they are calm and quietly ask me to do the right thing.

Have to admit to you that I do chase cats; it’s not that I want to hurt them it’s more that they are so cute and furry I just think it’s fun to chase their little fluffy butts all over the house; that being said my foster mom says no more – so no home with a cat for me (sorry). I do however love, love, love other dogs. I’m pretty spoiled as my foster mom let’s me go up to Camp Bow Wow a few days a week; helps me get my zoomies out when she is busy.

My friends at Fuzzy Pawz asked me what I wanted my new family to be like; I’m not really sure but I know this; they will need to be able to be a bit patient with me and take the time to make sure I'm comfortable. I know that I like older kids (10+), I really want a family that will take me running, hiking, walking as I enjoy a good outing. I want to be a part of their lives, to have sweet nothings whispered to me and to feel their love and in return I will cuddle with them, kiss them (if they will let me) and be the best girl ever!

I’m spayed, vaccinated, microchipped

There is a $75 adoption fee for me.
