First off, Rusty Nail is adorable! Just take a look at that petite frame, beautiful gold eyes, and precious white nose. He was rescued by a kind woman who found it hard to resist his sweet charm and rooster walk. He is tentative around aggressive cats, but absolutely loving with people and easy for every treatment he’s received since being at Tree House. Gentle Rusty can’t wait to get out of his room at the shelter and into his very own home! Rusty Nail has tested positive for FIV. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) causes a weakening of the immune system in cats. It's often compared to human HIV, but FIV is not transferable to humans or other species. It is also difficult to transfer to other sterilized cats, and we believe that mixed FIV and non-FIV households can work if managed properly. If kept indoors in a stress-free environment, with regular medical care and high-quality nutrition, most FIV+ cats live long and healthy lives.
