My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET CROSBY!

Crosby (named after Bing Crosby) is a 4 year old, 55 lb pup who came to us as a stray.

When found, he was living in a duck blind where he had been seen for about a month. We looked for his family, but sadly, as often the case here, nobody came to reclaim Crosby,

We are unsure of his breed mix but Crosby appears to be a Chocolate Lab mixed with maybe some hound.

Crosby has so many good qualities that make him a perfect candidate to be a family dog.
-- He is outgoing, and loves every human he meets, big and small. There are no strangers in Crosby's world -- only new friends.
-- He is crate trained and well behaved in the home.
-- He loves to go for walks or ride in the car.

He would be a wonderful companion for someone who spends a lot of time on the road or who just wants a friend to spend time with at home.

It breaks our hearts that Crosby has been waiting with us for TWO YEARS for a home to call his own. He is a harder placement for us because he truly needs to be an "only" child where other animals are concerned.

He does not appreciate kitties in the least and does not want to share a home with any.

Although he is not outwardly aggressive towards other dogs that he meets in his travels, he is protective of his personal space and toys when the other dogs that he lives with are too close. This is not unusual behavior for a dog that has had to fight on the streets to survive. He currently shares his foster home with other dogs, but it is unfair to him, as he is not comfortable in a multi-dog environment where he has to share with a pack.

He is a very special boy and who deserves a home and family to call his own. We need everyone's help to find that home for Crosby. Please give Crosby a chance -- you will not be sorry.

Crosby is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and heartworm negative.

6/18/14- Crosby is doing very well in his foster home but really needs a home without other dogs. He is a super sweet boy who is crate trained and housebroken. He loves to go for walks and ride in the car. He also loves to play fetch or cuddle on the couch. He is a really great guy who deserves a home of his own.

2/28/14- Say hello to Crosby. Crosby is a basset hound/boxer mix with maybe a little lab in there, we are thinking and weighs around 55lbs. He is around 2 years old but still acts like a big puppy. Crosby, who was named after Bing Crosby, was found right before Christmas where he had been living in a duck blind for about a month. Crosby loves people, loves to go for walks, ride in the car, and play fetch. He is a very sweet guy but he has to be an only dog, being out in his own for so long he does not share with others dogs very well. He will also need a home with older kids because he might accidentally knock down a small child. Crosby is neutered, up to date on his shots, housebroken, crate trained, and heartworm negative. Crosby is ready to find a home to call his own.
