My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Frenchie: 8 to 10 yr old female Flame Point Ragdoll

Well, this girl is as soft as a bunny -- actually, she has what we call "Angora bunny fur." She is such a beautiful darling. I love the red ears and head of the flame points. She is all soft colors. The shelter sent her photos -- you can see them they are the last two on the column-- and she was such a sad looking, gorgeous girl, how could I say other than "yes I will take her." They could not put her up for adoption since she was sad and shy. She is a great deal less sad these days but she still is quiet and shy. They lion cut her coat in the shelter (she must have been badly matted) and her fur is now growing out, but you can see that cut and her pom pom tail in the last two pictures.

She likes to be petted but she draws away at first til your gentleness seduces her. Then she relaxes and really enjoys your touch. She is good natured about it but she is not happy being held by a stranger which is what is happening in this first picture. We insisted she pose for the camera and she was really very nicely patient with us albeit reluctant.

What has she been through before she came into the shelter?. What happened to her? It is so frustrating not to know. Ragdolls are extra sensitive (and loyal) and change often really distresses them.

What Frenchie needs is a very quiet, stable home with one or two adult people who are home a lot of the time. She is what I call a project cat in that she needs a loving person who will not worry and not push her and not get impatient and who will just let her blossom into feeling safe in her own good time. She is a very loving, affectionate girl and will give her heart back to her owner. But her adopter needs to be a person who will enjoy watching the unfolding of this beautiful girl. Someone who is willing to work to show Frenchie she can trust and will give her the time to do so.

If you want to be sure Frenchie will be cuddling up with you to watch TV after a month in your home, she is not the cat for you. If you can say "I will love you sweetie and you just take your time relaxing into the safety and love in my house," then she is a good fit.
Neither type of person is wrong or right. It is just a case of matching the right person to this particular girl. Her adopter needs to be confident, loving, and patient.

Frenchie is an easy cat. She eats wet and dry food very consistently and happily. She uses her litterbox perfectly. She seems ok with other cats and is not concerned with them or scared of them. We have not put her with any that bothered her. I wouldn't want her with aggressive or dominant bored cats, however. Her health seems to be perfect. Because she is middle aged we have had a blood panel taken which shows that all her values are normal and healthy.

She will make someone a soft beautiful companion .

Her foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz.
