My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Diamond is a happy dog despite only having one eye. She doesn't let that bother her. She's active, playful (loves a game of tug!) and empties the toy basket to select just the right toy! She's really affectionate and is content to sit on your lap or snuggle on the sofa with you in the evening. She's about six years old and weighs 17 lbs. We're getting to know her better so we're not sure how she would do with cats. She would probably do well with children.

Diamond has chronic dry eye in her remaining eye and she will need to be on eye meds for the rest of her life. She's very good with taking her eye meds. She has a prescription ointment to help increase tear production. This is applied twice a day - first thing in the morning and then twelve hours later. Artificial tears (over the counter) are administered several times a day. After just one week of medication, her eye looks much better. The prescription eye medicine would cost around $40 a month, but since she only has one eye the medicine should last twice as long!

Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
