I am already neutered, housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.
Seamus-ADOPTION PENDING's Story...
We got desperate emails from both a Texas and a Colorado rescuer about Seamus...no one could accept that this gorgeous and super-affectionate pup was about to be euthanized in Texas. Both the shelter and the rescuers were desperate to find a foster, rescue or adopter immediately for this Wheaten Terrier mix with the incredible temperament. Seamus carries the coat with the golden beauty and the facial look of the Wheaten Terrier and the smaller size of the Cairn. But as beautiful as Seamus is on the outside, it doesn't compare with the love and good-will that flows from the heart of this 9 - 12 month old, 33 lb pup. As our rescuer drove away from the dreary, high-kill shelter, Seamus was so filled with joy that he climbed into her lap, breathed a huge sigh of relief and fell fast asleep. He slept all the way to the vet's office for his temperament testing (he passed with flying colors) and got a "perfect" on his vetting assessment. So...off Seamus went to his foster home to be reminded of respectful house behavior - he picked up the knack of the doggy door in 2 minutes (he's SO smart) and has been completely housetrained ever since. Seamus's great foster mom continues to fine-tune Seamus's great socialization skills in the real world..trips to Home Depot, Pet Smart and the dog park are bringing out Seamus's natural love for people and other dogs. He has excellent skills and continues to get sweeter and more comfortable. He also uses his great temperament when around the children at his foster sister's elementary school. Seamus is the school's most popular guy when he's the 2nd grade reading companion on Tuesdays at the library...his ability with children is one of his greatest gifts. Seamus's time in Texas waiting for his transport is time well spent..he appears to be working through the trauma he suffered at the shelter. We feel..as does his TX foster family...that with a loving, nurturing and committed home..Seamus will leave his sad past behind. With patient and consistent leadership (together with love and kindness), Seamus will settle into his new life with all the joy that's living inside of him. Since Seamus has gotten an A+ for sweetness, cuddling and general positive behavior...he's ready to be a devoted family member. We envision him in a home either with children who can play with and love Seamus with a gentle touch or in a home with active retirees who will shower time and attention on this devoted and super-loving guy. We would never want Seamus in a situation where he's alone for many hours. Instead we would love for him to be taken along on hikes (he would be overjoyed and a natural on the trails), adventures and visits with dog-loving friends. He's almost impossible not to fall in love with...his manner speaks of softness and light. Seamus also travels like a champ - he loves nothing more than to come along on errands, hikes and any adventure that keeps him together with those he loves. He would also be a natural to come along on vacations or getaways...he's so pleasant with everyone that he attracts admirers everywhere he goes. Seamus is a non-shedding guy and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy and matt-free. He is not, however, suggested for those with severe allergy concerns.
Seamus will be arriving on transport in Denver in early March. Applications are currently being accepted for this exceptional and very loving family companion.
