Updated post on 4/4/16. Onyx came to The Nest from a local animal shelter where she was taken by a family member after her owner passed away. When she was dropped off at the shelter she was pregnant but all of her babies died as the father of the pups was much larger and she had a hard time giving birth. It took Onyx quite some time to recover from her ordeal. Little Onyx is very friendly and very sweet and gets attached to her person (she loves sleeping in bed with you!). At the same time she does not mind keeping to herself and curling up in a doggy bed next to you. Onyx gets along great with other dogs and often initiates playing with other pups her size. She loves to be active and she loves to be outside. For Onyx we are looking for a home where she gets a lot of attention and with a securely fenced in yard and hopefully another pup her size. Not a must though. Onyx is about 8 years old and weighs 10 lbs. She is spayed, current on vaccinations including Rabies, she tested negative for heartworm, is on heartworm/flea prevention and she is micro chipped. She also had a dental when we took her in. If you are interested in adopting Onyx please fill out an adoption application on our web site www.inthenest.net (an adoption application must be filled out prior to setting up a meeting). Onyx' adoption fee is $145. No small children please.

About The Nest

About Our Rescue Group...

The Nest,is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization. Our mission is to rescue, restore, and re-home animals that come from local animal shelters or from individuals who contact us directly.

We are guided by the following ideals:

We will always place the physical and mental well-being of our animals above our own and that of other individuals, making a constant effort to act as an advocate for the animals we serve.

We will to the best of our ability assist in the care and placement of animals that require our assistance, regardless of breed, age, demeanor, physical or behavioral health, because we believe that all animals at any stage in life and health have inherent value and an important place in the world in which we all live.

We will provide educational support for those individuals who seek our assistance, believing that educating the public is one of the keys to keeping animals in their homes and preventing senseless euthanasia.

We will provide ongoing care and homes for animals we cannot place in adoptive homes, because we believe that animals that make their way to The Nest should be cared for until their last days.
