Forrest is a very fun and affectionate one to one-and-a-half year-old, 15 lb. Beagle/Chihuahua mix (a Cheagle!) who may even have some Dachshund mixed in too. His shelter paperwork says he is two but he seems closer to age one and a half. Forrest likes to play with other dogs but he also likes to cuddle with his people. He is shy at first meet, but once he gets to know you, he warms up. Forrest is very people-oriented, and he enjoys learning new things, playing with toys, chewing on rawhides, and exploring in the back yard. He likes to be near you and will lie on a little pet bed near his foster mom while she is working from home. Forrest is a young dog with a lot of potential. He looks to the other dogs for guidance and is becoming more and more confident and happy in his own skin daily. He is submissive towards other dogs - more of a follower than a leader. Though Forrest is generally calm and quiet, he does love to play tug-of-war and wrestle with the other dogs. He is not much of a barker, but he will alert if someone is at the door.

Forrest is potty-trained, (however potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) and also crate-trained, but prefers to sleep as a duo in the crate with the other foster dog. He is learning to walks well on the leash and prefers to walk with a small harness. Forrest is a bit shy out in the big world and requires some encouragement when he is faced with new things, but he is food-motivated and a tasty treat signals to him that everything is great.

Forrest lives in a foster home with 3 dogs (one medium sized, two small). He has not been tested with cats or kids. He is fine with other dogs and has also spent time with a larger pack at the rescue's main location. Forrest would probably do best with another dog in the home to be his mentor. He makes a great pal to your already existing dog, whether male or female, smaller or larger.

Forrest is neutered, de-wormed, vaccinated including rabies, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Forrest, please contact Janet Cook of the Angel’s Heart Dog Rescue at: adopt@angelsheartdogrescue.com. The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue until you have first submitted an interest via e-mail.
