My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

TASHA is a three-year-old Russian Blue female. She was originally rescued by Purebreds Plus when she was four months old. She found a home with a couple, but they were not able to keep her, so she came back into rescue. Her adoptive dad had developed cat allergies and serious health problems, so she had been living in the laundry room for several months.

Tasha was a nervous wreck when she arrived at her new foster mother's house. She didn't understand why she couldn't go home. She had put on extra weight while restricted to the laundry room, so she was placed on a diet. She was distressed over the other rescued male cat in the foster home who wanted to be friends, but was too rambunctious for Tasha, a quiet, shy girl. They were kept separated most of the time, but she could smell him. She also had to be separated from the other cat her owners had. Tasha hid under the sofa in her room all day and cried in her cat bed at night. Gradually she came out for pets, but always at arm's length. If her foster mother reached for her, she ran back under the sofa.

Things really turned around for Tasha once the other foster went to his forever home. About the same time, her foster mom had some flower essences custom mixed for her that were intended to calm her fears and help her move past her grief for the family she lost. Once Tasha was the only cat in the house, she relaxed, she began sleeping in her foster mom's bed, and she flowered into the sweet, loving soul that she is. She still jumps at loud sounds, and may always be skittish. She must be adopted into an only-cat home by an owner who can be patient as Tasha makes the transition from her foster home to her forever home.

It is a joy to cuddle with Tasha. She has the soft, plush fur characteristic of the Russian Blue breed. She requires little grooming and she doesn't shed. She loves to play with catnip toys and toys on strings. She likes for you to play with her, but she will also play by herself.

Tasha has a delicate stomach. She has no health issues except for her high-strung nature, which sometimes results in stress vomiting. She requires grain-free wet and dry food. She can eat most brands of grain-free dry food, but she has only been able to tolerate Wellness grain-free canned. She is litter box perfect.

Tasha will come to you spayed, microchipped, current on vaccinations, FELV/FIV negative and healthy. She is fostered in Stockton. For more information, please contact her foster mom Pam Van Allen at (209) 474-6808, DrPamVanAllen@aol.com or go to www.purebredsplus.org and fill out an adoption application.
