My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Noel arrived at the Animatch Centre a few days before Christmas, emaciated and in pitiful shape; another unclaimed stray. He was weak and could barely lift his head, let alone walk. It was obvious that life had been rough on Noel; everyday had been a struggle. To add to his problems, he tested positive for heartworm. In order to go through the treatment which involves harsh, arsenic-based, drugs that are hard on the system; Noel’s physical condition had to improve. Noel went to a Foster home where he was doted on, fed nutritious food, and given the individual attention that he so lacked. He put on some weight and rested his weary bones for the struggle ahead. Treatment for heartworm is risky and we wanted Noel to have the best chance possible at survival. Noel had the first of three injections and is doing better than expected; we are optimistic that he will continue to tolerate the medication. After treatment, Noel must have limited exercise -- no walks, no running around. He must live the indoor life; a calm, easy-going environment is what he needs. Exercise increases heart rate and oxygen demand and we need the heart to rest during this recovery period. Although he was dealt a bad hand, he responds with love and forgiveness; Noel deserves to be happy for the remainder of his life. Happy endings are what keep us going and we are looking forward to an amazing conclusion to Noel’s story.

Treatment for Noel has been very costly and once again we are digging into our Emergency Fund. Animatch has always appreciated our supporters who have contributed their hard earned money. Your generosity has allowed Animatch to continue our mission of making significant improvements in the lives of dogs like Noel. We hope that once again people will be generous and show Noel how many people are out there rooting for him. The need is always great, the cause is worthy, and we keep on reaching out for your financial support.
