Collins's Info...

I am already neutered, purebred, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, and good with dogs.

Collins's Story...
Collins is a young, playful character. He would love a home with another dog to play with. Collins does love his "person" too but needs an experienced doxie owner. He has become master of the doggie door and loves to use it over and over to investigate all that may be going on (inside or out). He loves all the other dogs in his foster home, but we do not know about cats. Collins will show his "ham" personality during the day and will burrow under your blanket at night, when it's time to go to sleep. Whomever is the lucky home to have Collins, will be guaranteed smiles.

Please note: Collins is heartworm positive and is being treated for that. DREAM will provide the necessary slow kill medications to an adopter.

If you are interested in adopting Collins, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml. Collins 's adoption fee is $300. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Collins will go to his/her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Collins, a Decatur Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Decatur, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Decatur.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Decatur already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Decatur breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Decatur paves the way for another one to be saved.
