My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The first thing you notice about Brooklyn is the love and positive attitude that is always with her. She almost wears it like a cloak. It's surprising considering this incredibly beautiful Tibetan Terrier/Schnauzer mix was slated for euthanasia in a dreary shelter in Houston..Farfel's saved Brooklyn with just a few hours to spare. This striking girl with the great temperament is perfect in every way...her only challenge is a cherry eye that there is no shelter funding to fix. Even though this is a simple surgery with a great success rate..it was going to cause Brooklyn to lose her life. The determination of the compassionate shelter volunteer (she just loves Brooklyn) and Farfel's offer to find Brooklyn a forever Colorado home was enough to seal her release. Brooklyn made such a lasting impression on the shelter personnel that the offer was made for her to have her cherry eye fixed by a Denver Opthamologist at our cost..it was so important to all of us that Brooklyn have a wonderful and pain-free life! And now the time is drawing close for this 18 month old, 38 lb Tibetan/Schnauzer to make her way to Colorado. We're searching for a very loving and nurturing home for this sweet girl...Brooklyn is initially shy, but when she understands that she is cared for and accepted..her warmth and devotion knows no bounds. We'd like a home with retirees or a family member that is home to give Brooklyn attention and perhaps a walk or a car ride to a dog-friendly spot. Brooklyn has a spirit about her that is so calming and so devoted to her special people. A soft pat is so gratefully accepted and a belly rub is nirvana. Once thing that is certain is that this lovely girl appreciates all kind gestures..and returns the favor a thousand times over. Brooklyn's challenging life taught her to always give love and devotion with all her heart...and when she is acknowledged, the joy starts at her wagging tail and moves up to her expressive eyes - so brimming with appreciation for even the smallest touch. Brooklyn is a very young pup and has a long lifetime ahead to enjoy the best of life in a permanent home. The efforts of many contributed to the rescue, foster and arrangements for Brooklyn to get her boarding pass and eye surgery set up in Colorado. The consensus was unanimous that this exceptional girl earned her ticket...with a super-engaging personality and so much love to give that it might just overflow. Brooklyn's foster mom said it the best -This beautiful girl with the gorgeous coat could easily become the love of anyone's life! And she puts so much good into the world...Brooklyn adores me (if I must say so myself and the feeling is completely mutual!) It took a bit for her to trust and become her silly self...but once she did..she became so much fun. She even shows enthusiasm for my grumpy husband and that's unusual. But it's not unusual to find Brooklyn wedged into a small spot on the couch with her adorable head on me and her body draped across my husband. Brooklyn even loves my barky dogs and older kids (12 and 15) unlike any dog I've fostered in my home...I trust her completely and enjoy her company tremendously. I take her on long walks and she is overjoyed with the exercise and just being outdoors in the crisp air. I'm so excited for Brooklyn to get her cherry eye surgery - she'll be so much more comfortable and she deserves that. We'll all miss this sweetie-pie but know that Brooklyn will be the best friend a special Colorado family can ever imagine. Brooklyn is a non-shedding girl (but not necessarily suggested for those with severe allergy concerns) and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her amazing coat healthy and matt-free.

Brooklyn will be arriving on transport in Denver on 3/14. Applications are currently being accepted for this exceptional and very devoted family companion.
