My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our Kyle is half of a sibling pair of gorgeous standard Eskies recently surrendered by their owners, at the young age of three, to an overcrowded animal control facility where euthanasia is imminent for many unlucky canine souls. As surrenders, Kyle and Kelly were on the fast track to the kill list.

Both dogs came through the shelter process fairly well and earned good behavior ratings. Fortunately, they were released to us soon after their arrival. Kyle had a huge chip on his shoulder when he got here; it seemed that he took his job of protecting his shy sister, Kelly, a bit too seriously.

Kelly was adopted fairly quickly, and Kyle seemed to calm down immediately. He seemed relieved that his burden of watching her voluminous backside was removed, and we saw him relax and begin enjoying a dog's life.

Kyle has really blossomed in foster care. He has a bright, lively demeanor that will thrill Eskie lovers. He loves to play, and enjoys the companionship of other dogs. We have not had him around cats, but he would likely chase them in fun. Any self respecting feline could probably keep Kyle in check.

Kyle would do well in a quiet, adult home with a a dog savvy single or couple, who have the time to devote to his exercise and training needs. Kyle is a bit chunky at 44 pounds, and should slim down to an optimal weight of 35. Obviously, Kyle's nutritional needs were overlooked in his former home, and he was fed the infamous, "one bite for me, one bite for you" diet of people food that so many dog owners fall into. A weight loss diet of nutritious grain free kibble and brisk exercise will go a long way to restore Kyle's boyish physique, and insure longevity.

Kyle's energy is somewhat subdued by his weight, but he is a fairly active dog. He would make an ideal walking, running or hiking partner, but needs at least a couple fast paced leash walks each day, in addition to adequate potty breaks. Kyle is house trained and crate trained, but adopters must anticipate and forgive the occasional accidents that will occur during his transition to a new routine.

Kyle is in excellent health and is neutered. He is vaccinated for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. If you are interested in Kyle, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com for an adoption application or call Denise at 720-903-0636 for more info.
