Hello, I'm Tarzan :) I'm a handsome 3 year old boy looking for my forever family!
I am fully house and crate trained and am highly ball motivated. I love balls of all varieties: tennis, rubber, squeaky. If you can throw it, I'll play fetch for hours! For a cookie, I will gladly show you how nicely I can sit as well as the other commands that I am still working on (like down, stay, heel, come, and wait). I have always been well-behaved in the car. In fact, if you look into the back you might see me practicing my surfing skills...even when the roads are rough, I can maintain my balance on all fours while I watch the scenery go by. Right now, my favorite destinations are the local parks, where I can meet up with my doggie friends :) Off-leash, I love running and playing with other dogs. I'm a gentle giant who willingly shares toys and lets small dogs and puppies call the shots....which make me a popular play buddy!
At home, I settle down quickly. I always enjoy playing with my people, but when they're busy I am a self-sufficient guy and can be content entertaining myself. Usually, I'll toss my toys around for a while, stretch out in some funny positions (doggie yoga), and then eventually curl up in one of my beds for a good long nap.
Some more tidbits about me: I like kids but because I'm a big, goofy boy full of energy I'm looking for a home that doesn't have any kids under age ten. I am also happy to share my people's attention with cats! I'm really easy-going like that.
My life has gotten so much better these past few months, but I still experience some anxiety when walking on leash in busy areas. Luckily, my foster mom recognized that this type of fearful reactivity is common for a former stray and she reached out to a behaviorist who is helping me learn to self-soothe, draw comfort and confidence from the human-dog relationship, and direct my energy towards safe, productive behaviors.

At heart, I am a sweet loving boy looking for a life long friend...could that be you???

NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
