My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET ZIGGY.

This brave little chihuahua fully epitomizes the statement coined by his cartoon namesake for a national charity a few years ago: You don't have to be Big to be Strong. ZIGGY is about 18 months old and weighs just 3.5 pounds. Also just like his more famous cartoon namesake, this ZIGGY is sweet, loveable, patient and quiet and exhibits his strength through his resilience. He came to us after being left in a gym bag with a broken leg at a local shopping mall. Although ZIGGY has been receiving regular veterinary care with the ODR, Inc. vet ever since, his broken leg didn't heal and it had to be amputated. Our little Ziggy is now a three-legged ZIGGY. He is getting stronger and, despite his trauma, has not exhibited any behavioral concerns. He is just incredibly affectionate and looking for that one person to care for him and love him the way that he will love back...unconditionally...forever. Are you that person to bring a little sunshine back into his life?

OUR CRITERIA (aka the Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a similar dog). We prefer no smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember these are rescues, many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doggies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give ZIGGY a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
