Meet Doodle Bug! Doodle Bug was one of those poor dogs who had to be physically carried out of the shelter; she was so scared of the outside world. In the past two weeks, she has learned much about trusting humans and has really come out of her shell nicely. She quickly bonds with those who care for her. She does not tolerate a pen or tether, but has managed to learn to walk on a leash quite well in such a short amount of time. She gets along very well with dogs who don't threaten her. If growled at, she does become defensive and growls back. Once she is comfortable around another dog, she becomes playful, but not overly so. She is a pretty laid back girl and would just as soon lounge on her bed watching TV with her humans as anything else. She likes to rub up against you and nuzzle to get some attention and pets. She may try to escape because she is uncomfortable so please always have her on a leash. It is safer for her and for you. She would do well with a senior or a family. Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
