Courtesy listing for the Jason Heigl Foundation - Meet Marcus, a neutered Irish Wolfhound Mix with striking looks, gray, black, brown scruffy coat, a medium size dog who weighs 45 pounds and is fully grown is in need of a loving home. Approximately three years old, this handsome guy has been in training to improve his self-control and moderate a naturally excitable nature. Marcus has made a lot of progress and now walks well on a leash and complies with basic commands like 'sit' and 'down'. The JDHF has worked with K9s Only to help Marcus become the gentleman that he is meant to be.

Marcus is very familiar with all basic obedience commands and has learned to listen to his trainers under a high level of distraction. As a puppy, Marcus was isolated from other dogs and only when he began training with K9s Only, did he learn how to be dog social. After working with his patience, manners and gradual socialization around other dogs, he began to show signs that he was becoming much more tolerant of other dogs. Marcus has since been introduced to many other dogs, taken walks with them and even played in the yard with some of them. Marcus does have a very dominant personality, so we would encourage that he stay away from dog parks or other dogs in which you are not familiar with.

Marcus is great with people. He has no preference towards men or women and is always ready to give kisses and be petted. Marcus also has a very high prey drive and loves to play with toys and chase balls. Due to this intense level of focus on smaller, fast-moving objects, we suggest that he be placed in a home without cats or smaller mammals. He is still a young dog and does need some exercise. He is not overly energetic and quite easy to calm down, but we would not consider him to be a couch potato.

Marcus will be graduating from K9s Only obedience classes on 3/22/14 and we would love to be able to place him immediately into a home, who would be able to continue the excellent training he has received.
