Wrigley James's Story...
Hi everybody! I'm Wrigley. I am a handsome flashy brindle boy. My foster mom was told I am about 4yrs old and that I came from a shelter in Kentucky where my family had to take me because they were moving into a place I wasn't allowed. I am neutered, crate trained, and about 95% potty trained. Sometimes I have an accident when my foster mom has to work late but I am getting better everyday! I love drinking lots of water so that probably doesn't help. But I don't have any problems all night long or when she is home with me. I also enjoy being left out of my crate in the afternoons so I can lie in the window and watch for her to get home. And I know I am not supposed to chew anything and even though my yummy food is right by me I don't get into it!
Running around my yard when she gets home from work is my favorite thing to do and I never try to get out.  Also, now that my kennel cough is gone we have been checking out the neighborhood and I like to try and walk my foster mom. But she reminds me that is not my job, so then I walk nicely with her. All the other dogs go crazy when I walk by and I just keep on going. I even saw two kitties in my yard and at the vet's office and I just let them walk right on by. I don't have a favorite toy yet, so I don't play much with those, but I love treats and I'm learning how good rawhides taste!
My foster mom sometimes invites me to snuggle on the couch or in her comfy bed, which I am more then happy to do, but I also don't mind lying in my comfy bed on the floor. I am a polite boy and always wait to be asked first! We don't have any kids around here, so I'm not sure how I feel about them. But so far I haven't met a person I don't like doing my boxer wiggle for, so I bet I'd like them. I am very good at knowing what sit means and I never jump on people. I just wiggle all around waiting for them to say hi! My foster mom has been asking me to shake but I decided I like giving her kisses instead so we are still working on that!
I am a total sweetheart and I really just love being around people, so I'm hoping I can find my forever home soon because I have lots more kisses to give! I am UTD on my shots, heartworm negative, and neutered, so if you are looking for a well-mannered, handsome guy who is over all that puppy nonsense, you'd better hurry up and apply at If you don't, someone else might get me first. If so, don't worry. There are always wonderful boxers who are also looking for their forever home. You just have to do all that app process stuff because GOBR wants to make sure I – and all the other boxers they rescue – don't end up in a bad situation or back in the shelter. Oh! And don't forget to ask for me by name: Wrigley!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Wrigley James, a Dayton Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Dayton, or seeking a Boxer dog from a breeder in Dayton.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Dayton already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Dayton breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Dayton paves the way for another one to be saved.
