We have never seen a Poodle quite as unique and strikingly beautiful as Merlot. He's a 3-year old, 10 lb cutie-pie with the most gorgeous coloring we've ever seen. The combination of silver, gold and black frame the sweet and intelligent eyes of this quiet pup. Merlot's time was up at a very high-kill Louisiana shelter but our amazing Louisiana rescuer was there to save and nurture the frightened guy. Off he went to a true home for the first time...a place of love and compassion. It really took no time at all for Merlot's sweet and silly personality to emerge..he does the cutest little dance when overjoyed with life. He is initially a bit nervous but if given kind words and loving pats..Merlot is in heaven!
We envision Merlot in a quiet home with a retired couple or individual who have the time and desire to spend their days with a well-behaved fuzzy guy. Once feeling safe in a new home, Merlot will be great with gentle grandchildren and visitors coming and going. He is an equal opportunity lover and is great with both men and women. He will be the best companion ever for long walks along Colorado paths. He accompanied his foster mom and dad on a 3 mile walk without missing a beat.. and was also perfect on leash. But Merlot doesn't require tons of exercise - he's great with whatever his family is up for. Time spent just hanging out on a favorite person's lap is just as fine for this very agreeable guy. We think Merlot would enjoy the company of a like-sized and gentle canine companion..but it's not necessary for his happiness. He does likes the companionship when his human family is otherwise involved and is a kind friend to his doggie pals. Under any circumstances, there's not an ounce of aggression in this quiet guy and he's great in the car and in any dog-friendly social situation.
Merlot is a non-shedding pup and as a Poodle mix, is considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breed mixes available for allergy concerns. He will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.
Merlot is arriving in Boulder, Colorado on transport from Louisiana between 4/8 and 4/10. Applications are currently being accepted for this loving and devoted companion.
