Information:

3/15/14: Ike was a stray in Tennessee in February of 2014. A good Samaritan brought him to his home instead of taking him to the shelter, but found that his elderly mother kept tripping over him (since Ike could not see to avoid her), so contacted BDRA for help. Ike came to his Virginia BDRA foster home in early March.

Ike is just a super dog! He is friendly and lively, although is also happy to nap at your feet. He loves to play with toys and really enjoys a walk out in the yard. Although he is blind, he moves along quite well, but need someone there right with him to steer him away from obstacles. He does very well on a leash.

Ike is housetrained and crate trained. He loves to eat. He sleeps well at night (although there is a bit of snoring!). He gets along with other dogs and our cat too.

Like most strays, Ike has a few medical issues. His teeth were just cleaned (he only has sixteen teeth and should have 42) and he did not need any extractions. He is getting over an ear infection. He is very itchy, and so a new medication is being tried along with special shampoo. He has dry eye in his left eye, along with elevated pressures, so that eye will be removed at the end of the month. Poor Ike had a broken femur (leg bone) sometime in the past, and it was not set as it should have been, so has healed in a way that caused one leg to be a bit shorter than the other. However, the vet says the leg looks strong, and Ike moves along very well. He does have some arthritis in his hips, which is not unusual for dogs (or people) as they age.

Ike is looking for a family to call his own. He has so much love and joy to share, and also lots of wiggly energy!
