Paige's Story...
My name is Paige. I am a 5 year old mixed breed girl with a very sweet disposition. The people taking care of me at Big Canoe Animal Rescue are very nice and the food here is good. I am recovering from Heartworm Treatment and will need to continue that for a while longer. Otherwise, I am very healthy and can’t wait to get to take long walks and play with my new friends.

I weigh about 50 pounds and am a mixed breed that could be part dachshund or German Pinscher. I walk well on a leash and will start more training when my heartworm treatment is finished. Big Canoe Animal Rescue is paying for my treatment so don’t worry that I will be too expensive. I would like a chance to be part of your family. It does not matter to me if we become a family of two, or a larger crew, I will be happy either way. I keep my kennel clean and as you can see, I already know how to smile and sit.

We prefer a home with children over the age of 5 who will be able to assist in the care of Paige. All of our dogs are placed as indoor family pets. No electric fences, please.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Paige, a Big Canoe Dachshund/German Pinscher dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/German Pinscher for sale in Big Canoe, or seeking a Dachshund/German Pinscher dog from a breeder in Big Canoe.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Big Canoe already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Big Canoe breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/German Pinscher breeders who help with Dachshund/German Pinscher rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Big Canoe paves the way for another one to be saved.
