My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Four precious newborn puppies where found by a Good Samaritan who made sure they were fed for the first few weeks of their lives before asking for our help in finding homes for these Real Good Puppies. All four puppies are girls, each with beautiful coloring and as sweet as can be. Betty is primarily chestnut/golden brindle with white on her chest. As of the end of March the puppies are apx. 8 weeks old.

As a puppy Betty is going to need someone extra special to adopt her. It will be very important that the adopter has experience raising a young puppy, a flexible schedule, and lots and lots of patience. We suspect Betty and her sisters are a shepherd - terrier mix so they will need a secure, fenced in yard that will allow them to run and play safely as they grow up. Preference will be given to someone with prior breed experience. An excellent vet reference demonstrating quality care for prior or current pets is required. Betty has had her first round of puppy shots and has been dewormed; she and her sisters will get their next round of shots, be microchipped, and spayed as soon as age appropriate. Her adoption fee is $150.

We adopt dogs from Memphis Animal Shelter when we can. The shelter has an 83% euthanasia rate, one of the highest in the country. Unfortunately, any dog coming from Memphis Animal Shelter, and most other shelters for that matter, will have been in contact with contagious illness. Even though the dogs have been in foster care and appear to be in good health, they may become stressed when changing environments and exhibit signs and symptoms of illness. If you have other pets, they need to be up to date on vaccines before bringing a shelter dog into your home. We will take the adopted animal back, but we are not responsible for your other animal's vet care. We always disclose where the dogs have come from. Please ask for any information about the dogs and exercise due caution if you have immunocompromised animals.
