Trooper's Story...
Trooper is a full sized German Shepherd who is about 2 years old and about 80 pounds - now. When Trooper was rescued he had to be carried out of animal control because he was so thin and weak he could not walk. He has been in foster care since.
He is now at a good weight and healthy so ready for adoption. He loves other dogs and would play all day if allowed. He is crate trained and generally polite and well behaved in the house. Despite his difficult life in the early years he is loving and kind to humans. He does have a fear of "come" as though he would get in trouble and hurt. Once he trusts you he will walk next to you all day long.
If you are interested in meeting Trooper then please contact tristateshepherdrescue@gmail.com for an application and start the adoption process.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Trooper, a Claymont German Shepherd Dog puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Claymont, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog puppy from a breeder in Claymont.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Claymont already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Claymont breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Claymont paves the way for another one to be saved.
