My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sophie is a delightful two and a half year old female Shih Tzu, with a soft buff and white coat and a dark mask. She weighs about 14 pounds and has a slender, well proportioned body. Her beautiful plumed tail wags back and forth when she is happy. Sophie has a sweet youthful manner that quickly won her foster parents’ hearts. She bonded with them after only a few days, as she will with a new adoptive family. Sophie plays "chase me" with her Shih Tzu foster sister, and they playfully act out the dominance (I want to be the boss) game frequently. Sophie has a big fondness for toys, which is clear when she stands at the toy box, barking until someone tips it over for her. She follows her foster mom around the house, and follows her foster siblings whenever they go outside. Sophie is mostly house trained when her foster parents pay attention and keep her on a regular schedule. She has shown great improvement after only a short time in her foster home, and will continue to improve with consistency and positive reinforcement. Sophie gets along well with other small dogs, her foster cat sibling, and guests in her foster home. She loves to sit on a lap with her foster siblings or by herself. She enjoys walks on a leash and is used to having her feet wiped after a walk. She is accustomed to being an only dog, but would also adjust to sharing a home with another small dog as long as it is young, playful, and has the energy and desire to play and chase.

Sophie is a healthy, happy girl who has been fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $370.00 plus sales tax. Her foster family would like her adoptive family to live within an hour of Minneapolis, and encourage her new family to attend the annual Shih Tzu rescue reunion in June every year.

Before contacting Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota regarding any dog, please thoroughly read the Adoption Information at http://www.shihtzurescuemn.org/adopt.html first to help you understand the process, requirements and timeline for adoption. To meet Sophie and other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota, please visit with us from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Minnetonka Petco near Ridgedale the last Saturday of every month.
