Nikki (Courtesy Post)'s Story...
This is the description from the family who found Nikki and is fostering her:
We found Nikki a few months ago running loose in a nearby park without identification. Although frightened, she allowed us to take her home and shower her with love and good food. When we took her to the vet to be fixed (she was estimated to be between 3 and 5), we discovered she had been pregnant - the vet was not able to revive the puppies. She was heartbroken and mourned the loss of her babies for many days. It was apparent that she had been used solely for breeding purposes - the vet said her uterus was toxic from having so many litters of puppies - and that she was confined to an area with a hard surface.

Thankfully, it didn't take Nikki long to warm up to us and to let her sweet, playful, and loving personality shine through. She gets along very well with the other dogs in the family, loves kids and all people, and loves to play outside in the fenced yard or go for long walks through the neighborhood.

Unfortunately, she does exhibit some amount of prey drive and should not be trusted around cats or other small animals. In addition, Nikki is working through an injury from her abusive past. We have taken her to several vets, but they are all unsure of where exactly the injury originates. We have been trying our best to keep her from being too frisky, and she seems to be improving. This is something that will have to be watched.

If you are looking to adopt a new FOREVER friend for your family, Nikki would make a great addition. We have absolutely fallen in love with her, but just cannot keep her because we have cats and have had to keep them confined to a separate room while caring for her. Because she does sometimes jump when she is excited, I would recommend families with children older than 5. Also, Nikki is very active and would be a lot happier if her forever family had a fenced in yard!

About Paws n'Time Canine Rescue, inc.

About Our Rescue Group...

Our Mission Statement

Paws n’Time Canine Rescue operates as a not for profit company focused on the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of dogs. Keeping our focus on our community, we aim to educate and assist current owners with the health and welfare of their animals, enabling them to keep their pets through hard times. Our rescue financially assists struggling families by providing standard vaccinations and a nutrient-rich, quality food for their animals.

If an owner must surrender their pet, Paws n’Time Canine Rescue offers a network of temporary foster homes to care for the dog until a loving family adopts. In addition, these services are extended to local strays and dogs housed in high-kill shelters.

We believe that a large part of reducing the volume of dogs currently located in shelters is prevention. As such, we promote spaying and neutering of all pets. Paws n’Time Canine Rescue offers sponsorship to animals for this surgery with the hope of reducing the chance of puppies being born that are unwanted, without proper care or love waiting for them.

Paws n’Time Canine Rescue strives to promote the human/animal bond as one that is mutually supportive, responsible, enduring and important to the well being of all family members - owners and pets alike.
