Here's what the humans have to say about me:
“Tilly” is a 2-yo spayed female GSD who is sweet and loving. She is friendly with strangers, though somewhat timid upon meeting them at first. She is scared of fast movements and loud noises, but never acts aggressively towards such stimuli. Tilly is good with other dogs, and in fact it helps her to be with another dog when there are no people around to keep her from becoming anxious and possibly wanting to escape her yard. Tilly is presently living with an 8-yo male Husky who she gets along very well with. We do not know how Tilly is with cats, so per my policy, I will only consider homes w/out cats for her. Tilly weighs about 70 lbs.
Tilly is housetrained and is routinely kept inside during work days for 4-hr “shifts” without any problems. She walks very well on leash, both with her Husky friend and without. She rides very well in the car and sits on command. Tilly becomes nervous when she is left outside by herself and will bark and possibly seek a way out of the yard. She has only got out of the yard twice, and the most recent time she came right around to the front door and barked to be let in. So Tilly will need a home where she is allowed inside when her people are gone and, ideally, one in which she is not left alone for long periods of time.
Tilly’s story is fairly unique: she was found in a narrow shaft, approx 15-20 ft deep, at the Turlock Water Quality Plant on 2-26-14. The Turlock Fire Dept responded by lowering a harness down the shaft and was able to slip it under Tilly’s torso. With assistance from the Turlock Police Dept and staff at the water quality plant, the fire dept crew was able to hoist Tilly out of the shaft. She was then brought to the Turlock Animal Shelter, but nobody claimed her there. Read Tilly's story in the Turlock Journal at the following link: http://www.turlockjournal.com/archives/24448/.
GSRSV rescued Tilly on 3-13-14, and brought her to a foster home in South Sacramento, where she is presently living. Tilly’s adoption fee is $250.
