My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Here is our treasure, Jewel. She is a Boston mix that is one year old, about 30 lb. and was rescued from a shelter after being found as a stray.

Jewel absolutely ADORES kids. She is in a foster home with 4 kids, one a young infant and another, a toddler. She loves to cuddle and sleep at the foot of the "big bed" on top of the covers. She follows her foster parents around everywhere.

She is somewhat good on a leash and will come when called every time. Jewel would benefit from obedience classes to help calm her down on theleash. She would be a great family dog. She is very smart and alert to her surroundings. She barks at strangers, but responds to the stop command and is friendly.

Jewel is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped and is heartworm negative. She is house-trained. Her foster home does not use a crate, so she is not crate-trained, but she does not tear up anything in the house. Jewel likes to cahse cats, so a cat-free home is recommended.

UPDATE: Jewel was adopted, but returned due to not getting along with a male boxer in the home. Being walked on a leash with the other dog seemed to be a trigger. When returned to her foster home, she has been fine. She lives with a female Rottweiler and plays with the neighborhood male dogs. We really do not understand nor can we explain what hppened at the adoptive home. We think Jewel would be very happy as an only dog and being the center of attention.

To find out more about Jewel, call her foster dad, Jonathon, at 828-334-1730. To adopt Jewel, visit bostonrescueofsc.com and fill out the adoption application. Jewel's adoption fee is $175.
