Bailey's Story...
THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING. ADR is not responsible for the health, temperament, behavior or placement of this dog. Listings are done at the request of the dog's owner and as an outreach and community service in hopes of finding these dogs a loving, stable forever home. Placement decisions are made solely at the discretion of the owner and not Austin Dog Rescue. Owners are required to ask for an adoption fee from adopters.

This is the information we received from Bailey's current family:

Bailey is a 9 1/2 year old Border Collie mix, originally rescued from a shelter. She loves other dogs, running and playing. She is very sweet, not at all aggressive, but she is incredibly anxious, and has displayed some fear-based nipping tendancies with kids and adults when 'defending' her space; therefore, she cannot be in a home with children, and would benefit most from someone with experience with herding dogs. She is up-to-date on her vaccinations, very healthy, crate- and house-trained, and knows commands to "come", "sit", "touch", "go" to her 'house' (crate) and lay herself down. She is a great dog for the right human, and we really want to find a home with the best fit, so she can live out the rest of her long life in peace and happiness. Can you help?? Please contact us at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bailey, a Austin Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in Austin, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
