My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Labrador Retriever/Greater Swiss Mountain Dog
Age: 1-2 Years
Weight: Approx 45 lbs
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Not officially tested yet. Pleas ask.
Good with kids: Not officially tested yet. Pleas ask.
Energy Level: Medium to High

Summit was so excited to be out of his kennel that we couldn't get a good picture of him. He was running around like a chicken with his head cut off. We finally caught up with him when he went to take a bathroom break. Not ideal, but it was the best we could do. We struggled with his breed. He has the head of a lab, and the beautiful markings of a Swissy. He's not going to be a huge dog. Probably between 50-55 lbs, depending how many biscuits he eats. He would make a great playmate for another dog or would be a big hit at the dog park. He's a funny little guy with lot's of personality. He was very inquisitive about toys and gravitated to them immediately. Most of all, he just enjoyed the freedom of feeling grass underneath his paws. Summit will make a great snuggler once he lets some of his energy out. He enjoyed having one-on-one time with a human and bowed his head to be rubbed behind his ears.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
