Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi! I'm Katie and live with Grandma Cathy. I am a 2 ½ year JRT/chihuahua mix. Rover Rescue was instrumental in rescuing me from a dog hoarder situation in Southern Indiana. Apparently a woman started out with several dogs and before she knew it she had 79 dogs in one house trailer when authorities intervened by rescuing the dogs. Within a few days of getting rescued from there I had my puppies and a day later was transported to Grandma's house in Illinois. I was very fearful when I came here and am gradually trusting Grandma more and more so that I now can jump up on her lap for some loving (I like to give her a lot of kisses). I like to play with the other dogs here and I especially like to chew on bones and raw hides (I love to eat as you can tell from my pictures).
When I came to Grandma's house I was heart worm positive which meant that after my puppies were adopted and I was spayed I had to have treatment for heart worms. The vet gave me a couple of injections of strong medicine to kill the worms (you can see the 2 shaved spots on my back where they gave me the shots) and then I had to be kept in a crate for 4-6 weeks to restrict my activity so I didn't have any complications from the medicine. I had to be on a leash to walk out in the yard so I didn't run. I'm over all that now. I still like my crate so I treat it like my safe haven -I sleep, chew on my bones and eat my meals there. I'm learning to sit and come when called. I'm house trained except for a very rare accident. I walk well on a leash and love to go for walks. I like to lay on the back of the couch so I can watch all the action in the living room. I still take time to get acquainted with new people I meet.
I've been spayed (whatever that means) , am up-to-date on my vaccinations, and come with a certificate for free micro-chipping. My adoption fee is $200. I am looking for a "forever home." If you think you might be the one please contact my foster grandma, Cathy, at 630/605-1096. Please look at my video on YouTube
