Ranger's Story...
Ranger is a distinguished fellow. We know he looks a lot older than he is due to the grey around his muzzle and face, but we happen to know he is exactly 4 years old. Ranger was rescued by our organization in the winter of 2010 as a very young puppy. He was saved from a horrible death in a southern kill shelter after he had been dumped there alone and scared. We adopted him out to a young family and Ranger did well until the family had a baby and adopted another puppy. He then became stressed and the family had very little time to devote to him individually. The grey hairs on his face are a result of his excessive stress from living in that environment. He was returned to us in hopes we could find an adopter with a more settled lifestyle and who was willing to commit to giving him the exercise and attention he loves. He would do best in a home with no small children as they seem to exacerbate his stress level, which he exhibits by becoming anxious. Since he has been in a foster home, he has completely relaxed and his true, loveable, fun personality is blossoming again!

Ranger is a large, stocky guy, very strong, and is currently working on his leash manners with his foster mom. He loves to be taken on runs and is working on "meeting" other dogs on the leash. He is exuberant and wants to play and has plenty of energy. But when he is finished, he is a calm, mellow guy indoors who loves to cuddle and be allowed to be a couch potato! He definitely likes and deserves a home that can accommodate these wishes of his :)

Ranger is a 4 year old, neutered male. He is microchipped, up to date on all vaccines, and is in perfect health. His anxiety has drastically reduced and his foster mom stated that once he settled in, she has not seen it after the first few days. He is housebroken and is not destructive. He did not know how to play with a toy when he arrived, and preferred sticks, but is now learning how to play like a dog with real toys!

Ranger wants an adopter who is available to provide him with a committed forever home for the rest of his life, and where he will be an integral part of the home and family. He is currently fostered with another male dog and doing fine, but he would also be just as happy to be an only dog and the center of his new owner's world!

Interested adopters please request an application via email at Adopters subject to reference checks, home visit, meet and greet. Adoption fee applies.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ranger, a Bowie Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Bowie, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Bowie.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bowie already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bowie breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bowie paves the way for another one to be saved.
