COOKIE's Story...
COOKIE is a beautiful 2 1/2 year old brindle female with cropped and standing ears. Her family is in the process of adopting a child, so they decided that Cookie needed more attention then they could provide. Cookie had been kept outside while the family worked every day, and she started jumping the fence. So far, she has not jumped the fence when her family is with her in the fenced yard. When she was caught she would be brought inside and she could only stay in the kitchen. When she first came to her foster home, they showed her that there was more to explore. She has learned that the living room is a nice place to be with her people. Cookie will put her head in your lap when she’s in need of a scratch or a little love. She will ride nicely in a car and will get right in. She is trustworthy in the house and doesn’t chew. She also does not get on the furniture. She knows sit, down, stay and how to walk on a leash. Outside, she likes it if you chase her in the yard and she will then get the zoomies and go flying around the yard. Cookie’s only bad habit is that she will get jealous of other dogs and your attention. If you are petting her she will growl if another dog comes up to you. We are working with are on this but it is moving slowly right now. We are making greater progress with her and toys. Cookie is learning what toys are. Tonight she picked up a stuffed toy and chewed on it for a few minutes. Cookie also likes kids. We were trying to get her to eat a treat but she would just look at it and walk away. Today our 6 year old neighbor said she would feed Cookie and held out a treat to her. Cookie took the treat very gently and waited for her next. It is safe to say Cookie is excellent with kids. Cookie may do best as an only dog. Right now Cookie is a scared dog who is discovering what the world holds for a dog. Cookie came to MAGDRL in January 2008.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

COOKIE, a Hanover Great Dane dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Dane for sale in Hanover, or seeking a Great Dane dog from a breeder in Hanover.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Hanover already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Hanover breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Dane breeders who help with Great Dane rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Hanover paves the way for another one to be saved.
