My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Max is a purebred yellow lab whose coat is nearly white. He came from a breeder in central Minnesota and at some point in his puppyhood he sustained a permanent eye injury which left him blind in his left eye. Max is not handicapped by this in the least and is a healthy, happy and very loving dog who is waiting in foster care for his new forever family. He is one year old and weighs 75 pounds. He actually had some hunting training in the past but with his one-eyed vision he may not be successful hunting. He doesn’t care though, he wants a family to play with. He knows several commands such as sit, lay down, drop, and search and his favorite game is FETCH with a ball, Frisbee or other toy. He gets along with kids who are old enough to not get knocked over if he jumps on them in excitement. Max has a submissive temperament and gets along with every dog he has ever met, and he also gets along with cats. Max is dependably house trained and would do best with an active person or family. He needs DAILY PHYSICAL EXERCISE as he is a young lab with lots of energy. Max isn’t happy just lounging around the house and we are seeking a home with a fenced yard, perhaps another active dog and humans who are seeking an exercise buddy. Max is with a 501c3 non profit rescue and his adoption fee of $300.00 is to cover his vet care including neuter, heartworm test and prevention, immunizations for distemper/parvo and rabies, worming and a HomeAgain microchip.
